Parsec Design System - Tether UI

As Parsec expanded from a gaming-focused tool into a professional platform, its visual language became fragmented across marketing, desktop, and web experiences. Tether UI was created to bring those experiences together, establishing a shared foundation that allowed designers and engineers to build with greater consistency and speed.

Objective

Rapid growth brought new challenges for Parsec’s product ecosystem. Marketing materials, the desktop application, and web dashboard had each evolved independently, while engineering maintained separate UI patterns that often diverged from design.

The goal was to establish a unified design language that could support Parsec’s expanding product landscape, align teams around shared principles, and create a flexible foundation for future growth.

"The name Tether UI reflected the role the system played during a period of rapid growth: keeping Parsec connected as the product, brand, and teams expanded in different directions."

Approach

I defined the principles, structure, and visual language behind Tether UI, creating a scalable component library with customizable variants, design tokens, and usage guidelines in Figma.

Working closely with engineering, I audited existing UI patterns, aligned implementation with the design system, and created documentation to support adoption across teams.

The biggest challenge was finding common ground between vastly different products and audiences. Tether UI needed to create consistency without limiting flexibility, allowing teams to move faster while still maintaining a cohesive Parsec experience.

Outcome

Tether UI became the shared foundation connecting Parsec’s products, helping establish consistency across the brand while enabling faster iteration through reusable components and flexible design patterns.

With a centralized system and stronger collaboration between design and engineering, the team was able to respond more quickly to product changes while maintaining a clearer, more unified experience for users.
